Join us for winter ski trips, social events and other outdoor activities throughout the year!
Midwest Ski Trips
Weekend trips to Illinois, Iowa, Michigan and Wisconsin ski resorts provide an excellent opportunity for first-timers to learn to ski or snowboard, and for intermediate and advanced skiers to stay in shape and hone skills. Travel on these two‐to-four day trips is often by chartered bus from Champaign directly to the resort. Many families participate on these affordable adventures and it’s a great way to spend time with family and friends.
Western Ski Trips
Each year the Club organizes week‐long trips to world‐class ski areas such as Banff, Canada; Vail and Aspen in Colorado; Park City, Utah; the Lake Tahoe area in California; Jackson Hole in Wyoming; Big Sky in Montana — the prime North American ski resorts. Because of group rates, trip prices are hard to beat and include airfare, lodging, lift tickets, often many meals, and more! You can spend each day skiing with a group sharing your level of ability.
Warm Climate Trips
Winter is not just for skiing! Each year the Club sponsors a trip to Mexico, Central America or the Caribbean islands for sailing, swimming, exploring ancient ruins, partying, snorkeling, diving, zip lining, rafting, scuba diving, or just relaxing on the beach. Lodging is frequently at all-inclusive resorts!
Kayaking and Canoeing
Enjoy the scenic beauty of the rivers of the Midwest on the many single‐day and weekend trips offered by the Club. There are trips for every age and skill level. If you don’t have a watercraft, members have some to share.
Hiking and Camping
What could be more fun than sitting around a campfire with a score of good friends? Typical venues include the Shawnee National Forest in far Southern Illinois, and Shades State Park in Indiana. Kids of all ages enjoy these trips — bring along your dog, too! Some members pitch tents while others enjoy the luxury of large camper vans.
Social Activities
Social activities are scheduled year-round and include pork roasts, a power boating weekend, farm parties, live-music weeknight at a local pub, and holiday get‐togethers. Join us each month as we congregate at a different pub for 'First Friday Happy Hour.' Most months also include a House Party with sharing of food and drinks – a great place to make new friends!
Bicycling
We organize a variety of bicycle trips during the warmer months, ranging from a full day on some of the State Rails‐to‐Trails routes to a morning or afternoon of mountain biking at Kickapoo State Park. The Blade‐and‐Bike Ride goes from Parkland College to Savoy with a stop along the way for lunch.
And Much More!
Join the fun for Friday games in a local park. Cool off at a pool party. Join us for golf as we challenge other ski clubs. Have you tried curling? It’s a blast! We have activities for all ages.
